What is AI visibility—and does your business need it?
Understand the difference between a readable website, search traffic and being mentioned in an AI answer.

Think of the questions customers already ask
A homeowner asks who installs cat mesh. A parent compares tuition classes near home. A business asks how a creator campaign works. AI services can help people investigate these questions, but their answers depend on the information and sources available to them. AI visibility is about whether your business can be found, understood and accurately represented in those answers.
For a small business, the first step is usually practical: explain what you do, where you operate, who it is for and what happens next. Put genuine proof beside your claims. This helps visitors even when an AI service never mentions the business.
SEO and AI visibility overlap
SEO concerns discovery in search results. AI visibility also considers how generated answers describe and cite a business. They are not rival systems. Google’s guidance says its AI features use the same search foundations and need no special AI markup. Accurate, accessible content matters more than adding a fashionable acronym.
Structured data can describe information that is already visible on a page; it cannot turn an unsupported claim into evidence. An llms.txt file can be a useful optional reading guide for systems that use it, but it is not proof of visibility or a Google ranking lever.
Measure three different things separately
First, website readiness: do the reviewed pages explain the business and expose information clearly? Second, observed search outcomes: impressions, clicks and queries recorded by a tool such as Search Console, for a stated period. Third, observed AI answers: whether a named service mentioned or cited the business in a recorded response.
Aureviq’s readiness score is a checklist result, not the probability of being recommended. A high score can coexist with limited traffic. Search Console impressions are appearances in results, not visits or sales. An AI answer that names a business once does not establish a stable rank across users, locations or later runs.
What a credible before-and-after example should contain
Record the exact question, service and model where available, date, location or search settings, whether web search was enabled, the complete response and its cited links. Repeat the same fixed questions before and after the changes. Keep unsuccessful and inconclusive runs, not just the screenshot that looks best.
Report mentions and citations separately and state how many runs were observed. Even a repeated improvement is an association, not proof that the website edits alone caused it: the model, index, competitors and other business activity may have changed. We do not currently publish a matched client AI-answer uplift case study because that evidence has not been established.
Where to start without buying a vague promise
Check whether your services, locations, contact information and customer questions are understandable on public pages. Fix incorrect facts first. Then choose a small set of real buying questions and a consistent measurement routine. Use enquiry quality and business outcomes alongside the visibility observations.
Our free check provides practical findings with limits; our methodology page publishes the first small accuracy pilot, including false alarms. If you commission improvements, ask for the actual changes and how they will be checked. Do not pay solely for a higher proprietary score or a claim that a particular model will recommend you.
If you pay for ongoing SEO or content work, ask for a written change summary each period: what changed and where, why it changed, which measurement was used with its source and the dates it covers, who owns the accounts and who has access, and what the provider will not promise. Rankings and AI recommendations are decided by search engines and AI services, so a provider that guarantees them is promising something it does not control. Aureviq’s change summaries are written to show the work completed and what to do next.
